Jaipur Literature Festival

Come January and the fragrance of literature is sensed in air. Jaipur hosts a number of literary giants every year in January amid giving farewell to winter. The atmosphere fills with the air of creativity in the beautiful ambience of majestic Diggi Palace. Jaipur Literature Festival is organized by an NGO Jaipur Virasat Foundation that works towards preserving skills, promoting the economic livelihoods of Rajasthan’s musicians and craftspeople while protecting heritage.

Img1.jpgLiterature buffs enjoys this opportunity to meet renowned national and international authors and listen as well as interact with them. The Creative Directors are – William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale and the festival is produced by Sanjoy K. Roy and Teamwork Productions.

Asia’s leading literature event, Jaipur Literature Festival will be held from 21st to 25th January 2012. Since its inception Diggi Palace has been hosting the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival.

The plethora of authors from India and abroad and literature enthusiast is seen. The festival provides a platform for new ideas, new thoughts and new perspective to see and understand the worldly issues.
Literature is a powerful medium that can build and strengthen our social infrastructure.

The Guests

DSC Jaipur Literature Festival provide an opportunity to bring together world-class writers and artists from across continents, cultures, forms and genres. Approx 150 authors from every corner of the world attend the festival in a healthy mixture of east with west.

The biggest plus point of the festival is that it is accessible to all at no cost.

Thousands of people including High Commissioners and Ambassadors and Cultural heads of International missions, delegates from Mumbai, Calcutta and Delhi attends the sessions and workshops held during the festival.  Publishers, students, University professors also attend festival to quench their thirst of literature. Usually the crowd is composed of 30% international guests, 30% from the metro cities and 40% from Jaipur itself.
