Kagyed dance is performed on the 28th and 29th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan Calendar, around December. This dance symbolizes destruction of the evil forces by burning effigies made of wood, flour, and paper. They also pray for peace and prosperity for every Sikimmese home. This dance is performed by monks in the Tsuklakhang (palace monastery) compound two days before Sikkimese new year. The solemn nature of the dance is interspersed with comic relief provided by the jesters.
