Jammu and Kashmir celebrates several festivals. The festive season begins with Lohri which marks the end of the cold season. Dance and music goes on for several hours around the bonfire by young boys and girls. Holi is celebrated by people of all he com munities where people spray colors on each other. Jammu is crowded during Navratri with pilgrims returning from Vaishna Devi mandir.
