Ramnavmi
Ramnavmi marks the birthday of Shri Sai Baba. During Ramnavmi, statue of shri Sai Baba is decorated beautifully and is taken across the streets, from where it is moved back to the temple, at around 7 pm. The statue is taken to the homes of various Sai devotees. Prayers are chanted in the name of Sai Baba and his sayings and praises could be heard across the streets. When the statue is returned from the streets, Bhajan Sandhya occurs in the temple premises for more than two hours. Lastly, Grand Prasadi is offered to every devotee.Dussehra
Dussehra is the symbolic of victory of good over evil, when Lord Rama conquered over the king of Lanka, Ravana. It occurs on the tenth day of month Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar and is celebrated with great pomp and show in every corner of the country. You must be wondering why are we talking about Dusshera, in the context of Sai Baba? Well, this day is also referred to as the Nirvana Divas- when Baba left his mortal remains, also known as the the day of deliverance of Shri Sai Baba.On this day also elegantly decorated images and statues of Shri Sai Baba are taken and moved from one place to another. The chariot journey begins at around nine in the morning and revered back, in the evening at around 7 pm, after it has been moved across all homes of the devotees. His prayers are chanted and bhajans are sang, followed by Prasad offering in the temple. The rituals and traditions are similar to those followed during the Ramnavmi Festival, the only difference being the opposite polarity of the occasion.
Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima, also referred to as Vyas Purnima, is observed on the full moon day in the month of Ashada. This day is dedicated to The Guru- the person who dispels darkness from our lives. He is honored and due respect is given to him on this day. Since Sai Baba is considered to be the supreme Guru, who firmly believed in all the religions, and used to preach the lessons of love and harmony, the sacred Lord is given homage on this day.The rituals begin at around 10AM, with the recitation of Sai Satcharitra. This is followed by a 2-hour bhajan session, after which Prasad is distributed amongst the devotees.
On this day Krishna-Dwaipayana-Vyasa was born to sage a fisherman s daughter Satyavati and Parashara, thus this day is also observed as Vyasa Purnima.
