To honor Jawaharlal Nehru, his birthday is celebrated all over India as ‘Children’s Day’. For the children it is a day of much fun and fanfare. On this day various departments of government announces various schemes and organizes various competitions and events for the children. Most schools have cultural programmes for the day.
All over the country, various cultural, social, and even corporate institutions conduct competitions for children. Various competitions like quizzes, fancy dress competitions and elocution are organised on this day. Various electronic media also air special programmes for children to mark the day.
Children celebrate the day with singing, dancing and storytelling in schools and colleges. For children it is a day of joy and freedom. This day parent and teachers send card to their children. Many Non-Governmental-Organizations (NGOs) also organise various programmes for the children.
