“ It doesn’t matter who my father was;
it matters who I remember he was”

Anne Sexton

“It is a wise father that knows his own child
William Shakespeare

Father s DayFather’s Day is considered to be the day of commemoration and celebration for that one person in your life who is there for you at different walks of verve, to help you out when you need him, to make you feel secure, to make available to you all pleasures of life.

This day is an occasion to recall, recognize and remember those endless pains; he had taken for your growth and upbringing, that very special icon, your father or what do you call your Dad.

This day not just calls for an honor to your father, but to all men who have acted as a fatherly figure in your life- whether as Stepfathers, Grandfathers, or even your ‘Big Brothers’.

He was there for your first step, your first fall, and you can count on him to be there when you need him next. Your biggest hero deserves your biggest thanks.

Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a DADDY!
Happy Father s Day to all the Daddys in the World!!

Father s Day History

Father’s Day is celebrated on 3rd Sunday in June. The idea for creating a day for children to honour their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father s Day while listening to a Mother s Day sermon in 1909. Having been raised by her father, Henry Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June 1910.

At about the same time in various towns and cities across American other people were beginning to celebrate a "father s day." In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father s Day. Roses are the Father s Day flowers: red to be worn for a living father and white if the father has died.

Father s Day has become a day to not only honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends are all honored on Father s Day.

A Celebration With A Difference
It matters not that Time has shed
His thawless snow upon your head,
For he maintains, with wondrous art,
Perpetual summer in your heart.
William Hamilton Hayne

Everyone celebrates Father s Day a bit differently, but if you are looking for something a bit different then here are some things/ways you might consider:
Father s Day Gifts
Flowers - Yes flowers! How many ties does 1 dad need?
If you know your dad has a special flower then a bunch would be a nice gesture. If you are unsure what type of flower, then the elegance of a single rose will let him know you care.

Homemade Card/Picture - It doesn t matter if you re 8, 28 or 48, a handmade card or note from the heart speaks more of your feelings than the store bought variety. If your artistic ability is a bit lacking check out our selection of Father s Day pictures that you can print out and color.
Father s Day Food

Home cooking - Give mom the day off as well and invite them both over for a good home cooked meal. But remember today is not the day to test out that new recipe. Play it safe and stick to dads favorite.

Father s Day Recipes
Dinner - If you’re not the home cooking type - then nothings better than being treated to a tasty meal at a nice restaurant surrounded by the ones you love. It doesn t have to be anywhere fancy;depending on your dad it could be the neighborhood diner or even the locale pizzeria.

Father s Day MunchiesMunchies - Does your dad have a sweet tooth? A plate of those homemade cookies or his favourite pie tastes even better when he knows it comes from your heart.

Father’s Day in India

Father’s Day is not celebrated with much pump and show in India. Being a Britain festival, here it is not given much preference. But, one thing for sure is there which exists tough in each and every part of the world.

But, India is one blessed nation with many such great fathers, queuing up from Vasudeva, who though was not Lord Krishna’s biological father, but Lord Krishna was called with his name as Vasudev Shree Krishna.

Coming down the line is Humanyun, who surrendered his own life just to save his son, Akbar’s life, who then was on the verge of deathbed. Though Humanyun had to give up his life, but he left after him the most promising Mughal Emperor-Akbar- The Great.

The queue doesn’t finishes here, as it has numerous names in the catalogue, but not only these fathers can be categorised as great fathers though they did certain exceptional deeds. For a Child his father is always and shall always be a Great father.

So, It is a time of burnt toast and breakfast in bed, family gatherings, crayon scribbled "I Love You’s and, of course, that lovely new tie!

Get up, buckle up, turn up the radio and get ready for a Father s Day ride with some fun Holiday things for you, your family, and your Dad.
