It is believed that any one who looks at the moon on the Ganesha Chaturthi night will be fallaciously accused.
The story behind this curse:
One day while Ganesh traveled round the Chandralok on his rat, the moon saw him. The Moon who considers himself to very handosme rebuked him for his elephant face and fat belly. He laughed at Ganesha with contempt. Lord Ganesh was very angry because of his insult. He cursed the Moon saying that whoever, sees the Moon on the fourth day of the Bhadrapada month, that person will suffer from false accusations.
In the broader sense this faith means that one should stay away from the company of all those who don’t believe in God and religion, right from the day of Chaturthi.
