The event of World Book Day started from the year 1995 when April 23rd was set to organize the day. It was the day which is also known as the anniversary of deaths of many renowned authors like William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes etc.
It is celebrated on different days in various countries. Some countries observe this day every year on the first Thursday of the month of March, while, in other countries, World Book Day is still marked for 23 April. India follows in the first category celebrating it on the first Thursday of March.
World Book Day is a partnership of publishers, booksellers and interested parties who work together to promote books and reading for the personal enrichment and enjoyment of all.
