Rishikesh is one of the holy cities of India situated in Uttranchal. It is a well known Hindu pilgrimage destination and is also a gateway to other holy destinations like– Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri - the Char Dham. The city is well connected to New Delhi and capital city of Uttarakhand - Dehradun.
The nearest airport to the city is Jolly Grant, which is in Dehradun. The airport is around 35kms away from Rishikesh. Buses and cabs are easily available from the airport for the tourists who wish to go to Rishikesh.
Wide network of roads connects Rishikesh to other cities of Uttarakhand and India. Bus services between Delhi and Rishikesh are pretty good. Plenty of government and private buses are available on this route. Also, people can choose to travel by their own car or hire a cab from nearby states.
There is a railway track connecting Rishikesh railway station to Haridwar railway station but there are just three trains that run on these tracks everyday. It is suggested that one should take a train to Haridwar as it very well connected to many other states like Delhi, Rajasthan, UP, Punjab, etc. From Haridwar railway station, you can take a bus, can or even sharing autos.
